- Academic Success Center
The mission of the Academic Success Center (ASC) is to ensure that all Wayne State students become self-determined learners who graduate prepared to achieve their professional and personal goals. This is accomplished through zero-cost learning support services offered 7 days per week. Highly trained peer leaders facilitate course tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and study skills coaching--all which simplify and enhance students' academic performance.
In addition, the ASC offers its Academic Persistence program to students navigating academic probation. Intentional partnerships with each student’s academic advisor allow Academic Persistence Specialists to work closely with students to create a customized academic improvement plan.

- First-Year Programs
- First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) are designed to help new students make a successful transition to university life by providing a small, close-knit educational community. With FIGs, groups of students take two or more classes together during their first semester at Wayne State.
- First Year Seminar (FYS) is an interactive, collaborative course designed to provide students with the tools needed to simplify for success. The curriculum is holistic in nature as it addresses not only evidence-based learning strategies, but also academic performance-enhancing topics such as time-management, stress-management, diversity, wellness, and successfully transitioning from high school to Wayne State.
- Gadson Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence
The Colonel Gregory Gadson Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence (OMVAE) offers high-quality and comprehensive student support to veterans in an environment that fosters respect, commitment, and academic excellence. The dedicated staff provides direct and liaison services for all education and administrative matters pertaining to student veterans, their families, and the military community at large.
- Housing & Residential Life
The Office of Housing & Residential Life at Wayne State fosters student learning and success through engaging residents in an intentional living-learning community. Supported by safe, comfortable and convenient residence hall, apartment and dining environments, residents grow in self-awareness and cross-cultural understanding as they practice social and group development as members of a diverse group of Wayne State learners.
- Learning Communities
Learning Communities serve students at all levels of the University. In Learning Communities, small groups of students with similar interests work closely together in a "community of learners." Students, along with advanced peer mentors and a faculty advisor, will study, socialize and problem-solve together.
- Office of Federal TRiO
The Office of Federal TRiO is responsible for administering and overseeing various TRiO programs aimed at providing support and resources to students from underserved communities. Federal TRiO programs partner with a number of local school districts, charter school networks, community-based organizations, and university offices and programs to help students overcome barriers to higher education. Participants include middle and high school students, veterans, and undergraduate students.
- Pre-College Initiatives
Pre-college experiences available at Wayne State include our array of K-12 opportunities such as camps and programs, as well as many other activities of interest to future Warriors.
- Student Center & Campus Reservations
The mission of Student Center & Campus Reservations is to advance community through fostering inclusive spaces and supporting programs, services and facilities for Wayne State University. The team manages a variety of meeting and event spaces inside the Student Center, Community Arts Auditorium, McGregor Memorial Conference Center, St. Andrew's Hall, STEM Innovation Learning Center, outdoor spaces, Spirit Rock, and tables. The dedicated and knowledgeable staff are available to assist you with your event planning needs.
- Student Disability Services
Student Disability Services (SDS) ensures an inclusive academic environment by offering universal access and inclusion for Wayne State students. In addition to academic accommodations, SDS provides resources and training in assistive technology to foster self-advocacy and success for students with disabilities.
SDS hosts a liaison program intended to bridge the gap between faculty/departments and student accommodation needs, allowing the promotion of disability awareness and universal design across campus. - Student Success Operational Strategy
The Office of Student Success Operational Strategy is a centralized office which supports the strategic priorities of the academic enterprise, as well as the overarching Student Success, Support, and Engagement vision. In addition to leading the effective execution of student success strategies campus-wide, the operational strategy team prioritizes the use of data and predictive analytics to offer proactive support to our students, allowing for intentionally designed intervention frameworks and program assessment. Student Success, Support, and Engagement marketing and communications are coordinated centrally through this office to ensure consistency in messaging and program promotion.
- University Advising Center
The University Advising Center (UAC) provides advising services to undergraduate students in many of the pre-professional programs (including pre-med, pre-nursing and pre-pharmacy), to meet the needs of prospective students, and students exploring, declaring, or changing majors.
The UAC is home to the Advisor Training Academy, the Office of Military and Veterans Academic Excellence and Pre-med and Health Science Center. - Warrior 360
Warrior 360 is a program created to partner intentionally with students to foster campus connections, community, skill-building, and holistic support throughout their college career. As a member of the Warrior 360 community, students are paired with a college success coach and a peer success partner, ensuring students thrive academically and personally.
Momentum Week, a pre-first-year engagement opportunity, offers incoming Warrior 360 students an immersive college experience with no-cost campus housing and meals. Students can expect to end the week with a strong sense of belonging and applicable academic skills to best prepare them for the semester ahead.
