Biography
Theresa Ramírez-Zipser is the Program Management Specialist for Student Success, Support, and Engagement in the division of Academic Affairs. In this role, she supports administrative optimization & innovation and manages special projects and initiatives across units. Theresa joined Wayne State in 2020 as the STEM Engagement Coordinator focused on enriching the K12 pipeline of future Warriors. To that effect, she strengthened Wayne State's commitment to creating experiential STEM opportunities for students in historically marginalized communities, helped support the transition to virtual programs during the coronavirus pandemic, and managed the opening and startup operations for the newly renovated STEM Innovation Learning Center.
Theresa's professional experience includes her time as a Program Manager for an after-school tutoring nonprofit with a regional portfolio of programs at two dozen school sites spanning from Gary, Indiana to Chicago Public Schools. She went on to lead the Hispanic Initiative for the Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan for over six years, where she established best practices for inclusive and equitable marketing & recruitment, expanded Latinx membership and growth in the region, and strengthened community partnerships.
As a proud graduate of Detroit Public Schools, alum of Wayne State and its Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies, and current MBA candidate at the Mike Ilitch School of Business, Theresa's strong ties to the community span decades of volunteer service roles across organizations. She is committed to her own personal and professional growth, and equally passionate about leveraging her skills and background to promote student belonging, success, and excellence for fellow Warriors.
