Biography
Marc Smith is the Director of the TRIO Upward Bound Program. In this role, Marc oversees all academic and postsecondary preparation programming for the Detroit high school students that participate in Upward Bound. He also oversees the annual precollege residential summer experience, as well as the college bridge program for multiple Upward Bound high school graduates and supervises those in charge of program recruitment and events, including college tours.
Marc started in his current role in 2017. Prior to this, he coordinated a school-based therapeutic program with high school students in Detroit, while also helping them prepare for post-secondary education at Development Centers, Inc (Detroit). Marc has also supervised precollege programs within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
Marc earned his BA in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1996, along with his MSW and Graduate Certification in Community Engagement from Michigan State in 2016.
